WLTC- Winnipeg labour council Sympathy strike- a strike by workers not directly involved in a dispute to show support for other strikers. General strike- a strike by all or most of the workers in a variety of industries that occurs at the same time. NWMP-North West Mounted Police Craft union- a union made up of skilled workers engaged in the same occupation. Capitalist- A share holder or owner of a factory, bank, store, mine, and other important business. Nine hour movement- the attempt by workers in the 1870’s to obtain a nine-hour workday. Strike breakers- a person actively involved in trying to break up a strike, especially one hired to replace a striking employee Trade union –an organization formed by workers who unite to improve their working conditions.
